These are the main codes and convention in magazines
Masthead-This is at the top and easily readable and in your face as it is the name of the magazine which is important element for the name to be recognised.
Pugs- these are always either at the top right or left, and are eye catching these show the date and how much it will cost, this is important for the target audience to know how much they will need to pay for the magazine.
Strap line- this is normally a sentence and a introduction to either what is the main article at the front of the magazine cover or the magazine, this encourages readers to read.
Top strip and bottom strip- usually the contents to what is inside in short form of either a statement or sentence.
Puff- normally an advertisement of a company or event to interest the targeted audience
Left third- usually most information on that main side which shows the targeted audience in the newsagent or shop
